What's Included in Every Package
Each road test package from Golden Key Driving School includes everything you need to feel prepared and confident on exam day. We take the stress out of the logistics so you can focus on driving.
- 1 hour of practice driving with a certified instructor before your exam. This session takes place in the area around the DriveTest centre so you can familiarize yourself with the roads and common test routes.
- Use of our vehicle for the road test. Our cars are well-maintained, dual-control vehicles that meet all DriveTest requirements. You don't need to worry about borrowing a car or adding someone to your insurance.
- Free pick-up and drop-off. We'll pick you up from your home, drive to the test centre together, and drop you off after the exam — anywhere in Ottawa.

What to Expect on Test Day
On the day of your road test, your instructor will pick you up from your home and drive you to the DriveTest centre. Before your scheduled exam time, you'll have a full hour of practice driving in the surrounding area. This includes reviewing common manoeuvres like parallel parking, three-point turns, lane changes, and intersection navigation.
When it's time for the test, you'll use the same vehicle you practiced in — so you'll already be comfortable with its controls, mirrors, and blind spots. After the exam, your instructor will drive you back home, regardless of the result.
Which Package Do I Need?
If you currently hold a G1 licence and are preparing for your first road test, you need the G2 Road Exam package. This test is conducted in city driving conditions and evaluates your ability to handle everyday traffic situations.
If you already have your G2 licence and are preparing to earn your full G licence, choose the G Road Exam package. The G test includes highway driving in addition to city driving, so the practice hour will include highway merging, lane changes at speed, and exiting.
